Drawing inspiration from Nina Simone, John Coltrane, James Blake and Portishead, Annie Bass’s music has an intimacy that is both intensely private and impossibly inviting.

The multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and vocalist studied music in both Adelaide and Melbourne, and has lived between Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Los Angeles and New York: always working composing, creating and and producing her own music. In 2017, a song she had recorded with producer friend Christopher Port was uploaded to Unearthed, and the very next day the elegant, heartfelt track ‘Don’t Want’ was playlisted on triple j itself. It has now had well over a million Spotify streams. Annie went on to release two more tracks with Christopher Port, via Opulent & Future Classic.

As with her songs, Annie’s live performances draw the audience into a private and cathartic space. Annie has performed at Splendour in the Grass, Vivid LIVE, Falls Festival, Big Sound and Groovin the Moo, and in support of Wafia, Alta, Touch Sensitive, Total Giovanni, No Mono, Elizabeth Rose, Banoffee and others.

Annie Bass will release her debut six-track EP Control in 2019 on Opulent.  Control was recorded between LA, Sydney and Melbourne, and was produced by LA-based rising star Kito (Jorja Smith, Mabel) and Sam Gill (Ara Koufax). It was also mixed by John Lee (Laura Jean, Beaches) and mastered by Matt Colton (FKA Twigs, Four Tet).
