horse
horse are a 5-piece indie post-punk outfit based in Newcastle/Mulubinba, blending ambient textures with raw intensity.
Combining ambient but driving guitars with pushing drums, embellishing keys and raw, honest vocals to establish themselves as one of Australia’s most exciting new projects. After releasing their debut single “BLIGHT”, the band was selected for BIGSOUND 2025, with follow-up single “Headlights” surging to nearly 100,000 Spotify streams within just four months.
The band take inspiration from the likes of King Krule, Turnstile, Been Stellar and Mk.gee to mould into their own stand-alone sonic image.
With a run of Australian headline shows under their belt, horse have also shared stages with the likes of Ruby Fields, Sycco and Rum Jungle. They have created a structural soundscape for their live performances by having an ambient but raw take on post-punk. Selected to perform at triple j’s 50th Birthday show in Newcastle, triple j praised them as “already possess[ing] a live presence that would have you believe they’ve been gigging for years.”
2026 has seen horse release their debut EP Ask me again next year, with a sold out headline EP tour, including a jam-packed DIY rooftop show in their home town of Newcastle. They’ll also be playing Yours & Owls Festival and supporting La Dispute (US).
